How the composite score works
The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.
Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.
The FAQ promises a single-build unlock that /plans never prices
Visitors who want instructions for just one model follow the FAQ to Plans and find only monthly subscriptions, with no price for a one-off unlock.
The home page FAQ answer to "Can I download building instructions?" says instructions are in paid plans "or you can unlock them for a single build. See Plans." The /plans page lists Free with no instructions, then Pro at $12, Premium at $29 and Studio at $49 a month, and it never mentions a single-build unlock or its price. A buyer meets this at the pricing step. Anyone who wants instructions for one model has no visible way to buy them without subscribing.
Try it: Open the home page FAQ "Can I download building instructions?" and click "Plans". Then search /plans for "single" or "unlock" and note that nothing comes up.
The home page layout jumps while it loads, with CLS at 0.633
Desktop visitors reading the hero or reaching for the prompt box to start a first build see the content move before they can use it.
On the home page, content shifts while the page finishes loading. Cumulative layout shift measured 0.633 on desktop, and Google rates anything above 0.25 as poor. Most of the shift comes from a centred hero container, so the headline and the "Describe what you want to build" prompt box can move just as a new visitor starts to read or click.
Try it: Check the CLS value and the layout-shift entries for the hero container.
The gallery page jumps heavily while it loads (CLS 0.94)
Visitors browsing example builds to judge quality see the page move under them as it loads, so a click can land on the wrong build.
On desktop, /gallery has a cumulative layout shift of 0.94 before anyone scrolls or clicks, and a second fresh load measured the same. Google rates anything above 0.25 as poor. The biggest shift comes from a card container in the build grid, which is where visitors in the understand step browse builds to judge quality before they try the product.
The home page is missing five security response headers
The response from https://brickschat.com/ is missing Content-Security-Policy, CSP frame-ancestors or X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, Referrer-Policy, and Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy.
Gallery filter chips use aria-pressed without a button role
The category filter chips on /gallery are focusable divs that carry aria-pressed="true" or "false" but have no button role. aria-pressed is not allowed on those elements, so assistive technology may skip both the pressed state and the control type. Screen reader visitors who are comparing example builds cannot reliably tell which filter is active.
The "or drop a file anywhere" hint is below contrast minimums
The hint "or drop a file anywhere" below the prompt box on / and /gallery is #8d8473 on #fffdf8 at 12.5px, a contrast ratio of 3.63:1. The WCAG AA minimum for text this size is 4.5:1. The Add and Image buttons beside it still offer uploads, so visitors can start a build without reading the hint.
