How the composite score works
The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.
Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.
On phones, the "no account needed" trial button opens a sign-up page
Phone visitors are promised a free try with no account, but they get only sign-up buttons and no editor.
On a 390px-wide phone screen, the home page's "Try it out for free" button sits directly above "no account needed". Tapping it opens a /document/temp-… page that has no editor, only "Sign up" and "Sign up free" buttons and a note to sign up on mobile and open the editor on desktop. On desktop the same button opens a working demo document with AI edits and no account, so phone visitors cannot try the product at all, and the button and the FAQ ("Do I need an account to try it? No.") promise something different from what they get.
Try it: On a phone, open vibewrite.work and tap "Try it out for free". The page that opens offers only Sign up buttons and has no editor.
The editors page "Check a document" button opens a login wall
Professional editors must sign in with Google or email before they see a single style guide suggestion, but writers get to try the editor with no account.
On /editors, the main button "Check a document" (with "bring your own style guide" under it) goes straight to /login, which shows only "Continue with Google" and "Continue with email". The page offers no sample document and no way to keep going without an account. The home page's "Try it out for free" opens a working editor with no account, so editors get a harder first step than writers at the moment they decide whether to try the product.
Try it: On desktop, open https://www.vibewrite.work/editors and click "Check a document". You land on /login with no way to try it without an account.
