How the composite score works

The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.

Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.

The chat offers the $19.99/mo doctor plan at $0 for waitlist members

Visitors deciding on the membership are told it is $19.99/mo, free for waitlist members and coming soon, so they cannot tell what it costs or whether it exists yet.

The home page sells the doctor membership at "$19.99 / MONTH" and "Only $19.99/mo · HSA/FSA eligible" with a "Join now" button. After a visitor asks a question from /healthcare-navigator-overview, the /chat page puts a banner above the input that reads "Your doctor, always one message away. $0 for waitlist members." The footer of the navigator page and the blog pages also tags "Personal Doctor in your pocket" as "Coming Soon". A buyer meets these mixed messages about price and availability right at the pricing step, before deciding to pay.

Android visitors have no way to join the $19.99/mo membership

California adults with Android phones cannot become paying members, and desktop visitors who click the price link land on an App Store page they cannot install from.

Every Join now, Explore membership and Get the app control leads to the iOS app. The listing reads "Only for iPhone" and "Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS," and the home page offers no Android app, no web signup and no "iPhone only" notice. On desktop, the hero link "Doctor membership · $19.99/mo · California →" opens that App Store listing in a new tab with no QR code or send-to-phone option, unlike the desktop Join now buttons, so a buyer at the signup step has no way to continue from there.

Try it: On a desktop browser, open momentarylab.com and click "Doctor membership · $19.99/mo · California →" under the question box. The new tab shows an iPhone-only App Store listing with no QR code. Then look for an Android or web signup route on the home page and you will not find one.

The navigator overview page ignores every click and keystroke on desktop

Desktop visitors who land on this page cannot search a price or move on to signup from it.

On /healthcare-navigator-overview at a 1280x800 desktop size, the search box takes no typing, and "Send", the menu, "Learn more", "Find Your Savings →", "Get Started" and "Start Searching" give no response. This happened on three separate desktop loads and again in a fresh session, while the same search box accepted text and opened a chat on the iPhone layout. A desktop visitor who wants to try the free cost search or join from this page has no working way forward.

Medium/healthcare-navigator

The two navigator pages claim 10,000+ and 5,000+ members

Visitors who try the free cost search on both navigator pages see two different member counts, which makes the trust claim look invented before they consider the membership.

/healthcare-navigator shows "TRUSTED BY 10,000+ MEMBERS" above the "Frontdoor of healthcare" headline. /healthcare-navigator-overview has the same headline and stats but shows "TRUSTED BY 5,000+ MEMBERS". The knee MRI estimate on the navigator covers only the radiologist's professional fee and says the facility fee, "the largest portion", is not included, so it is not comparable to an all-in price.

Explore membership shows nothing for 5 seconds on phones

The action was still unfinished after 5.12 seconds of observation, during this 5.12 seconds wait, the user gets no timely confirmation that the action worked.

On a phone, tapping the "Explore membership" button on the home page leaves the screen unchanged for at least 5.1 seconds, with a request still open at that point and no pressed state, spinner or navigation. The only change on screen is the rotating placeholder text in the question box. Buyers meet this right as they move from reading about Momentary to looking at the membership price and joining.

Medium

A home page button took 800ms to respond to a key press

A keyboard press on a black rounded button on the home page took 800ms to paint a response. Google classes anything over 500ms as poor. The delay did not recur on a second load.

Medium

One tap on the phone navigator overview took 2.4 seconds to respond

On /healthcare-navigator-overview at phone width, a tap on the element span.relative took 2408ms to paint a response. Google classes anything over 500ms as poor. This page explains the cost navigator before a visitor starts a search, and the delay did not happen again on a second load.

Medium

The fixed help panel covers the blog's "All" filter on phones

On /blog at phone width, the fixed "Want help understanding this article?" panel at the bottom of the screen covers the "All" category filter. With the filter focused, a hit test at all five sample points inside its box returned the panel, never the link. The screenshot shows only a sliver of the pill above the panel.

Medium

The fixed ask box hides the focused "All" category link on phones

On /blog/diseases_conditions at a 390px-wide viewport, the "All" category link at y=496 sits under the fixed "Want help understanding this article?" ask box. With the link focused, every measured point inside it hits the fixed aside rather than the link, so the focus indicator stays out of sight.

The home page hero background is a 3.85 MB PNG

The full-screen hero image on the home page, /superhuman/hero-desktop.png, transferred 3,851,661 bytes. It is a 2048x1016 PNG displayed at 1280x800 on a 1x screen. It is the first thing every desktop visitor loads while they learn what Momentary is.

Medium

The cost search hero background is a 3.85 MB PNG

On /healthcare-navigator, the full-screen background /superhuman/hero-desktop.png is 2048x1016, is shown at 1280x800 on a 1x display, and transferred 3,851,661 bytes. The page's largest content still appeared in 1804 ms on desktop, so the measured cost is extra download weight, not a visible delay.

Medium

The home page has no Open Graph preview image

The head of the home page at / has no og:image tag, but it does declare twitter:card as summary_large_image along with an Open Graph title and description. Shared links to the home page can render as text-only previews or an empty large-image card.

Medium

The home page is missing six security response headers

The response from https://momentarylab.com/ is missing Strict-Transport-Security, Content-Security-Policy, CSP frame-ancestors or X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, Referrer-Policy, and Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy.
