How the composite score works

The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.

Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.

Quiz result sends Windows users only to the Mac App Store

Visitors who tell the quiz they use Windows get a Mac-only pitch and a button their PC cannot use.

On /quiz.html, the last question asks "What do you work on?" and offers "Mixed Mac + Windows". The result card that follows still lists "Capture any Mac app" as a benefit, and its only call to action is "Try StepGrab free on the Mac App Store". It does not mention the Windows app or the Microsoft Store, so a Windows buyer at the download step is left with only the small header "Download free" button.

Phone visitors get a Mac .dmg with no way to send it to a computer

Visitors who find StepGrab on a phone, for example from a launch post, have no way to get the installer to their Mac or PC from the download page.

On /download.html at phone width, the main action is "Download for Mac (.dmg)". Nothing near it offers a QR code, an email link or a send-to-computer option. A phone visitor at the download step cannot install a .dmg on the phone, and the page gives them no way to pick the download up later on their computer.

Try it: Open stepgrab.net/download.html on a phone and scroll to "Direct download (.dmg)". Look for any way to send the installer link to a computer.

Example SOP links on /templates.html are under 24px tall on phones

On a phone, the "Read the ... SOP" links in the example grid on /templates.html measure 304px by 20.9px, and the clear tap space around each one is 21px across. WCAG 2.5.8 requires a 24px minimum. The links are wide and still easy to tap, so the gap is small.

On /de/, the nav logo at icon.png is a 256x256 image at 141,572 bytes. On a 1x screen it is displayed at 32x32 pixels. The largest content paint happened at 228 ms, so this extra data does not delay what a visitor sees.

The orange accent text on the home page fails contrast at 2.28:1

The "Mac · Windows" hero badge is white text on #ff8c62 at a contrast ratio of 2.28:1, which is below the required 4.5:1. The "Features" eyebrow and the orange "Nothing you don't." headline accent use the same colour on white, also at 2.28:1. The same colour pairing appears on /download.html and the translated home pages.
