How the composite score works
The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.
Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.
A finished free summary can open to a raw JSON error
Guests trying the free no-login summary can land on a developer error with no notes, and nothing on the page tells them to reload.
After a guest generated a summary of a Tim Urban TED talk, the redirect to /summary/90f10233-3628-41c4-abf0-214b97e13dc5 showed only "Failed to execute 'json' on 'Response': Unexpected end of JSON input" and a "Back to library" link, because GET /api/summaries/<id> returned 500 with an empty body. Reloading the same URL later showed the full summary, so the notes existed but the first load failed. A visitor trying the free summary meets this at the moment the product should prove itself, and the only link on the page goes to /dashboard, which needs an account.
Try it: As a guest on the home page, generate a summary for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arj7oStGLkU. Watch the /summary/<id> page and the GET /api/summaries/<id> request for a 500 with an empty body.
The Pro upgrade modal promises PDF export that pricing puts in Unlimited
Free users who click a locked export are told they hit their weekly limit when they have not, and are offered a $9 Pro plan with a PDF export that the pricing cards sell only in the $19 Unlimited plan.
On a guest summary page, clicking "HD PNG · Pro 🔒" opens a modal that says "YOU JUST REACHED YOUR LIMIT OF THIS WEEK.", yet another summary could be generated right after closing it. The same modal sells "vidvisual Pro $9/mo" with "Ultra-HD Vector PDF & PNG" and "Notion & GoodNotes Sync". The pricing cards list "PDF export" only under Unlimited at $19, the summary page labels the button "PDF · Unlimited 🔒", and no pricing card mentions Notion or GoodNotes sync. A buyer at the upgrade step gets two different answers about what $9 buys.
Try it: Generate a guest summary, click "HD PNG · Pro 🔒" and read the modal's limit banner and Pro feature list. Then compare it with the Pro and Unlimited cards in the home page pricing section.
An English TED talk summary came out entirely in Albanian
Guests who summarise this English talk with the default language setting get notes they likely cannot read, and it uses one of their free summaries.
With the language left on "Auto (Same as video)", the English TED talk "The happy secret to better work | Shawn Achor" produced a whiteboard written entirely in Albanian. The title reads "Shkenca e Lumturisë dhe Suksesit" and every card is in Albanian too, while the saved page still shows the video's English title above it. This is a visitor's first try of the product, and the summary counts against the 3 free summaries per week stated on the same page.
Try it: Open https://www.vidvisual.xyz/summary/7be0fb28-6288-4bd6-afa5-aa536ad3cb3b and check that the notes are in Albanian. Or paste https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLJsdqxnZb0 on the home page, keep "Auto (Same as video)" and click Generate.
Paid plan buttons open a "Create your free account" page
Visitors who choose the $9 Pro, $19 Unlimited or $49 Team plan see nothing on the next page about that plan or its price.
"Upgrade to Pro →", "Go Unlimited →" and "Get Team →" on the pricing section all link to the same /register page. The "⚡ Unlock Pro Now ($9/mo) →" button in the upgrade modal opens /register?plan=pro, which is the same page. Both are headed "Create your free account" with the line "3 summaries a week, free forever." and show no plan, price or checkout step, so a buyer at the payment step is told they are signing up for the free tier.
Try it: Open the home page pricing section and click "Upgrade to Pro →". The page that opens reads "Create your free account, 3 summaries a week, free forever" and does not mention Pro or $9.
Google signup asks to continue to a Supabase domain, not vidvisual
Visitors who choose Google signup on /register are asked to give their Google account to an unfamiliar random-looking domain that never mentions vidvisual.
On /register, "Continue with Google" opens Google's sign-in screen, which reads "Sign in to continue to nvwsdwffbehecepmrkeq.supabase.co". The name vidvisual appears nowhere on that screen, and both the redirect_uri and app_domain point to the Supabase project domain. A buyer meets this at the signup step, right when they are deciding whether to trust the product with their account.
Try it: Open https://www.vidvisual.xyz/register and click "Continue with Google". Read the line under "Sign in" on Google's page.
The no-login summarizer page scrolls sideways on phones
Phone visitors from search get a page that slides sideways when they swipe down to the tool comparison table.
On /free-youtube-summarizer-no-login, the page content is 623px wide on a 390px phone screen, so the whole page scrolls sideways. The comparison table in the #comparison section is 541px wide and pushes past the screen edge. A visitor reading this page to decide whether to try the summarizer has to pan left and right to read the comparison.
Try it: Open /free-youtube-summarizer-no-login on a phone or at 390px width in devtools and scroll to the comparison table. Swipe left and the whole page moves sideways.
The 32px nav logo downloads as a 300 KB, 512px PNG
The nav logo at /logo.png is a 512x512 PNG of 307,851 bytes, and the home page header shows it at 32x32 on a 1x display. It is not the LCP element, and LCP was 432 ms and 340 ms in two loads, so the extra download does not delay what visitors see first.
The 32px nav logo downloads as a 307 KB 512x512 PNG
On /free-youtube-summarizer-no-login, the nav logo /logo.png is a 512x512 image of 307,851 bytes, and it renders at 32x32 CSS pixels on a phone with a device pixel ratio of 3. A 96 pixel asset would look the same. The page still painted its largest content in 180 ms, so visitors do not see a delay.
The 32px nav logo downloads as a 300 KB, 512px PNG
On /free-ai-video-summarizer, the nav logo /logo.png is a 512x512 image that transfers 307,851 bytes and renders at 32x32 CSS pixels. On a 3x phone screen it needs only 96x96 pixels. Page content still paints quickly (LCP 168 ms and 316 ms), so the cost is extra data on mobile, not a slower first view.
The home page is missing five security response headers
The response from https://www.vidvisual.xyz/ is missing Content-Security-Policy, CSP frame-ancestors or X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, Referrer-Policy, and Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy.
The home page sample card's colored labels fail contrast checks
On the home page, the sample whiteboard card in the hero has three labels below the WCAG AA ratio of 4.5:1. The white "Beginner" tag on #23996B measures 3.59:1, the "Spaced review" heading in #E2483D on white measures 4.01:1 and the "Connections" heading in #23996B on white measures 3.59:1. These labels sit in the example output, not in the generator or the pricing controls.
