How the composite score works

The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.

Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.

The home page signup buttons sit behind two checkboxes

On the home page, the hero buttons "POST A TASK →" and "BECOME AN APE" only show "tick the box first. house rules." until the visitor ticks "I am not a superintelligence". Ticking it then brings up "One more box. A real one this time." with a Cloudflare "Verify you are human" widget. The header "POST A TASK" link skips the gate but opens /login?next=%2Fpost, headed "WELCOME BACK / LOG IN", and its signup link sits below the fold, so a new maker meets a login page for returning users at the signup step.

The home page is missing a Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy header

The response from https://apestogetherstrong.si/ is missing Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy.

The pip rating on /how-it-works uses an aria-label on a dd element

On /how-it-works, the pip rating is a dd element (.XK4uNW_pips) with aria-label="4 out of 5". The definition role does not permit aria-label, so assistive technology may ignore it. The pips are empty spans, which means a screen reader visitor may get no rating at all.

Medium

The "Reject + reason" label on /how-it-works has low contrast

On /how-it-works, the "Reject + reason" verdict label is cream text (#fcfaf4) on red (#f13d1f). At 18px bold its contrast ratio is 3.7:1, below the 4.5:1 that WCAG AA requires for text of this size. The label explains one of the review outcomes that makers and apes read about at the understand step.
