How the composite score works

The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.

Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.

"Get money out of a closed account" opens an Apple gift card letter

Visitors whose bank closed their account and kept their money land on a letter that does not fit their problem, while the $15 letter they need goes unseen.

On the home page, the "What do you need to do?" shortcut "Get money out of a closed account" links to /apple-account-balance-recovery-letter. That page's heading is "Apple Account Balance Recovery Letter, Free Template to Get Your Gift Card Money Back", and its first question asks for the email on the visitor's Apple Account. The letter that fits the label, Bank Account Closure Funds Release Letter ($15, /bank-account-closure-funds-release-letter), is only reachable through search, so a buyer choosing a letter here starts on the wrong one.

The local-rules pages promise free letters that cost $15

Visitors who reach a letter from the deposit or parking rules pages expect it to be free, then find a $15 charge after answering every question.

The intro on /laws/security-deposit promises "a free demand letter for each" state, and /laws/parking promises "a free appeal letter." The California letter page those links lead to says "Download PDF + Word for $15". At the review step the letter is blurred until the buyer pays, and Stripe checkout charges $15.00, so buyers learn at the payment step that the letter is not free.

The header search box covers the Tickets category in the nav bar

Desktop visitors browsing by category cannot see or click Tickets, or any category after it, from the home page bar.

On the home page at 1280px wide, the "Search letters..." box sits on top of the right end of the category bar, so the Tickets label is cut to "Ticke" and nothing after it shows. A visitor working out which letter fits their situation meets this on the first screen, and the hidden categories can only be reached through All letters or search.
