How the composite score works
The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.
Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.
The Learning free-trial button opens a Sign in page for new guests
New visitors who click "Start my 1-month free trial" on a course page get a sign-in form, and the only way to join from there loses the trial and the course they picked.
On /learning/professional-networking-57316027, a signed-out guest who clicks "Start my 1-month free trial" lands on /login/ under the heading "Sign in". The page asks for email and password and shows no trial details or price. Its "New to LinkedIn? Join now" link goes to /signup/cold-join/?fromLogin=true with no redirect, so a new buyer who signs up at this step ends on the general free LinkedIn signup and the trial checkout and course are no longer in the flow.
Try it: Signed out, open /learning/professional-networking-57316027 and click "Start my 1-month free trial". Then on the Sign in page, check the "Join now" href and confirm it has no session_redirect.
The User Agreement header dropdown throws a null classList error
Clicking the "Expand to show more links for User Agreement" button in the header of /legal/user-agreement throws "Cannot read properties of null (reading 'classList')". The same error appeared again in a fresh load. The page itself renders normally, and the evidence does not show whether the dropdown failed to open.
The User Agreement menu button throws a JavaScript error
Clicking the "Expand to show more links for User Agreement" button in the header of /legal/user-agreement throws the uncaught error "Cannot read properties of null (reading 'name')". This happened again in a fresh session. The page itself renders normally, and this is a legal page that buyers do not need on the way to signing up or paying.
The home page lacks Referrer-Policy and CORP headers
The response from https://www.linkedin.com/ is missing Referrer-Policy and Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy.
The home page loads DOMPurify 2.3.5, a known vulnerable version
The home page script at static.licdn.com/aero-v1/sc/h/azyj0u7xl6tpxe5fn3t3djk7p contains DOMPurify 2.3.5. That version falls below the fixed releases for CVE-2024-48910 (prototype pollution, fixed in 2.4.2), CVE-2024-47875 (nesting-based mXSS, fixed in 2.5.0) and CVE-2024-45801 (prototype pollution, fixed in 2.5.4). The version is known to be vulnerable. Whether these advisories can be reached depends on how the project calls the library.
The User Agreement video embed has an invalid ARIA attribute
The markup comes from the YouTube embed and sits on a legal page, not on a signup or payment step.
The embedded video player uses an aria-label on a div with no role
The YouTube player embedded on /legal/user-agreement contains a div, #movie_player, that has an aria-label but no valid role. The element is part of YouTube's iframe markup, on a terms page that buyers do not need on the way to paying.
The home page footer list contains non-list children
On the home page, the footer list .li-footer__list has direct children with role=presentation, and the list rule requires only li, script or template children. Screen readers can announce the footer link list with the wrong structure. The footer is not on the signup or job-posting path.
