How the composite score works

The overall score is a weighted average of the categories: Getting the product 40%, Trust before buying 20%, Mobile 15%, Speed 15%, and Polish and audit 10%. It is never more than 10 points above the Getting the product score, because a product a visitor cannot get cannot score well on anything else, and never more than 25 points above the weakest category, so one badly broken area is not averaged away. Any issue in the main list caps it at 89, so a score above 90 means nothing worth fixing was found.

Each category starts at 100 and stays there when nothing was found in it, whether or not the inspection got that far. Each distinct verified finding deducts 60 points for a serious problem on the path from arriving to paying, 40 for another serious problem, 30, 15 or 8 by high, medium or low severity otherwise, and 4 for an audit finding. Each additional finding below the list takes 2 more points off the overall score, up to 10. Scores stop at zero and round to whole numbers. The formula is fixed and versioned, so the same saved evidence always receives the same score.

The scorecard's trial button opens the home page, not signup

Founders who just finished the free GTM scorecard click to start the trial and get the marketing page they already read, with no signup form.

On /scorecard, the "Start your 14-day free trial" button under the results, the header "Start for free" and the "Log in" link all point to /app, which redirects to the top of the home page with no signup or sign-in dialog. The signup dialog only appears after a second click on "Start for free" on the home page, and pressing Back shows the scorecard intro rather than the visitor's results. The visitor meets this at signup, right after the free try step that is meant to lead into the trial.

The pricing section quotes €99 but the plan card shows $99

Founders deciding whether to start the trial cannot tell whether the one plan costs euros or dollars.

In the home page pricing section, the line under the heading reads "Everything in Mazo for €99 a month", but the plan options directly below show "$99 / month" and "$990 / year", and the note under the trial button says "$99/mo". The /fractional-cmo-alternative page also states the price as €99 a month or €990 a year. A buyer meets this at the pricing step, right before starting a trial that becomes a paid plan, and €99 and $99 are different amounts.

Medium

The mobile nav button took 768ms to respond to a tap

On the home page at phone width, a tap on the top navigation button (#nav .nav-cta button) took 768ms to paint a response. Google classes Interaction to Next Paint above 500ms as poor. The delay did not recur on a second load, so it looks intermittent and not constant.

Medium

The newsletter page took 18.4s to paint its main content on mobile

On one mobile load, /newsletter took 18.4 seconds to paint its largest content. Google classes anything over 4 seconds as poor. A second load did not reproduce the delay, and the page rendered with its Substack subscribe form in place.

Medium

The home page is missing six standard security headers

The response from https://getmazo.com/ is missing Strict-Transport-Security, Content-Security-Policy, CSP frame-ancestors or X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, Referrer-Policy, and Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy.

Medium

Home page hint text and signup button fall below contrast minimum

On the home page, the grey hint lines "Free to start · No credit card" and "Your question gets answered right after you create your free account." use #8a8a8a on white, which measures 3.45:1. WCAG AA requires 4.5:1 for text this size. The nav "Start for free" button, white on #6366f1, measures 4.46:1, and the same rule fails on /scorecard, /newsletter and /fractional-cmo-alternative.

Medium

The newsletter signup frame has no accessible name

A screen reader announces it as an unnamed frame, and visitors cannot tell that it holds the email signup form until they enter it.
