Website Not Converting? Find Where Users Drop Off

Find the cause of the drop-off before changing the page.

If visitors aren’t signing up or buying, check for bugs first. If everything works, look at your traffic, messaging, pricing, and whether people trust the product.

Check that your measurement is working

Confirm that the conversion event fires once at the intended completion point. Review event definitions and recent instrumentation changes. A missing event can look like a failed journey even when the user completed it.

Funnel analysis: locate the user drop off

Compare the steps in signup, onboarding, or checkout. Segment by device, browser, release, and traffic source where you have enough observations. Look for a specific change or segment rather than treating every visitor as the same.

Rule out technical blockers

Reproduce the journey on the affected browser and device. Check validation, request failures, loading states, and navigation. Probie’s role is to help find and fix these technical failures.

Then examine intent and the offer

If the flow works, investigate whether visitors understand the product, need it, and accept the price. Review the acquisition message alongside the destination page. Technical repairs cannot resolve every conversion problem.

Measure the result

Use comparable traffic and a stable conversion definition. Report the number of visitors as well as the conversion rate. Avoid attributing a change to one fix if traffic mix, campaigns, pricing, or other releases changed at the same time.

Web, Expo, and Swift

Install Probie in your web app, Expo/React Native app on Expo SDK 50+, or Swift app on iOS 15+ and macOS 12+. Connect GitHub to let Probie investigate the code and open pull requests. Read the installation docs.

Compare user behavior with a baseline

Probie tracks completed forms, progress between steps, retries, and clicks that do nothing. It flags changes from the usual rates so you can find the affected interactions and investigate what went wrong.
