Production Debugging: From Error to Fix
Start with the crash report, reproduce the problem, and trace it to the code that needs to change.
Capture JavaScript errors before changing code
Record the error, stack trace, affected release, request, environment, and reproduction steps. Compare failures with successful attempts to narrow down the conditions. Avoid including secrets in issue evidence.
Use frontend monitoring to trace a failed request
A request may fail because of authentication, validation, a timeout, an upstream service, or an application error. Check the response and surrounding events before assuming the last visible error is the root cause.
Connect the issue to your repository
Use the error and reproduction steps to find the relevant code. Probie can investigate those details in your connected repository and propose a fix.
Prevent the same regression
Add a test for the failing path and inspect its result. After deploying the change, verify the affected behavior and watch for recurrence. For a customer-facing form, include the recovery path as well as the successful submission.
