Regression Testing Software for Real User Behavior

Your tests passed. The release still broke something for users.

Use regression testing tools to check your app before release, then monitor it with Probie. Probie watches how people use the running app and flags increases in errors, retries, and abandoned steps.

What regression testing tools cover, and what they miss

Unit, integration, and end-to-end tests check the cases you’ve covered. Bugs can still reach users on an untested device or under conditions your tests missed, such as a slow network or an expired session.

Behavior baselines for every route

Probie keeps a baseline for each route: how often people complete it, move on to the next step, retry, rage click, or hit an error. After a release, it compares recent behavior with that baseline and flags the metrics that moved in the wrong direction.

Regressions tied to the commits that shipped

When more users run into trouble on a route, Probie shows the commits released around that time. Those commits give you a place to investigate; they don’t prove which change caused the problem. Probie can read the connected codebase and propose a fix as a pull request.

Automated regression testing tools and Probie work together

Your existing CI checks Probie’s pull requests. Review the proposed fix, add or update regression tests where needed, and decide whether to merge.

Visual regression testing tools vs behavior regressions

Visual regression testing tools compare screenshots to find changes in appearance. Some bugs leave the screen looking the same: a button stops responding or a form rejects valid input. Probie records interactions and errors to help you find those problems.

Web, Expo, and Swift

Install Probie in your web app, Expo/React Native app on Expo SDK 50+, or Swift app on iOS 15+ and macOS 12+. Connect GitHub to let Probie investigate the code and open pull requests. Read the installation docs.

Catch the regression your tests missed.

Connect your app to find out when users encounter more errors or have trouble finishing a task.
